Things You Should Know About Driving Test Theory

Driving theory tests is just the first step on the road to become a qualified driver. The first step is to apply for the Driving Test Theory at one of the UK driving license centers which can be applied at basic fee.

The driving test theory is the first step towards becoming a full UK driving license holder. To have the valied driving license, it is crucial to pass both the theory and practical tests.

Who Needs To Book Driving Test Theory ?

You usually need to take the theory test for driving in the UK before you can get your full car driving licence.

You do not need to take the car theory test if you:

  • want to upgrade an automatic car licence to a manual one

  • have a category B1 driving licence (3 or 4-wheeled light vehicles) from before 1 February 2001

  • For motorcycle/mopeds, it is must to pass the theory tests


What Is The Driving Theory Test Like?

When you enter the theory test centre, show your photo identification to the test center. There are security checks. You must leave your personal possessions in a secure place. You might asked to run your fingers through your hair just to ensure that you do not have any concealed communications devices.

Before you start multiple choice test, you are given the practice test to perform which is of 15 minutes. This way you get used to the test.

The test has 50 questions and you will need to get at least 43 correct to pass. You will have 57 minutes for this part of the test.

The multiple choice questions appear on screen and you will use the mouse clicking the answers. Additionally, it will also has some scenario-based questions, based on video clips, which you will usually see at the end of the test.

If you are not sure about any of the questions, you can ‘flag’ them and come back to them later.

If you experience difficulties while taking the test, raise your hand and let the supervisors know there is an issue.
